The possibilities are endless, and it all depends on your preferences. Motorsports is all about the adrenaline rush, the need for speed, and the love for precision driving. However, it’s crucial to remember that you should always keep racing off the streets to ensure the safety of both yourself and others on the road.

If you’re thinking about competing in national races and making a name for yourself in the world of motorsports, Malaysia has several prestigious events to consider. From the Malaysian Championship Series to the Malaysia Speed Festival, SagaCup, SEPANG 1000KM, and Toyota Gazoo Racing TGR, you have a myriad of options to showcase your skills and passion.

But what if you’re wondering if you need a racing license to compete in these events? The answer is yes, if the event is sanctioned by the Motorsports Association of Malaysia (MAM).

A National Competition License is issued by MAM, and it is required for events sanctioned by the FIA. This license ensures your eligibility to compete and protects your rights as a competitor. The FIA, the international governing body for motorsports, recognizes MAM as the sanctioning body for motorsports activities and events in Malaysia.

To apply for the competition license under MAM, you will need the following documents:

  1. Photocopy NRIC (1 copy)
  2. 1 copy of your photo (passport size)
  3. Previous competition license (if any)
  4. 1 copy of your Driving License JPJ (if any)
  5. Completed medical report, a medical examination form, and Application Form (downloadable from MAM’s website)
  6. Payment slip – MAM account details REFER TO MAM WEBSITE FOR ACCOUNT DETAILS

Applicants must scan and send the complete documents by email (application form, medical, photo, photocopy IC, and payment slip) to MAM and hand over the hard copy during the day of the respective events. If you’re below 18 years old, you’ll need your guardian’s signature on the parent/guardian consent section of the form.

Ready to apply for your competition license? You can find more information and download the necessary forms on MAM’s website.
