But what if you’re wondering if you need a racing license to compete in these events? The answer is yes, if the event is sanctioned by the Motorsports Association of Malaysia (MAM).
A National Competition License is issued by MAM, and it is required for events sanctioned by the FIA. This license ensures your eligibility to compete and protects your rights as a competitor. The FIA, the international governing body for motorsports, recognizes MAM as the sanctioning body for motorsports activities and events in Malaysia.
To apply for the competition license under MAM, you will need the following documents:
- Photocopy NRIC (1 copy)
- 1 copy of your photo (passport size)
- Previous competition license (if any)
- 1 copy of your Driving License JPJ (if any)
- Completed medical report, a medical examination form, and Application Form (downloadable from MAM’s website)
- Payment slip – MAM account details REFER TO MAM WEBSITE FOR ACCOUNT DETAILS
Applicants must scan and send the complete documents by email (application form, medical, photo, photocopy IC, and payment slip) to MAM and hand over the hard copy during the day of the respective events. If you’re below 18 years old, you’ll need your guardian’s signature on the parent/guardian consent section of the form.
