Leona stays driven despite lack of funding

PETALING JAYA: Malaysian racer Leona Chin remains in high spirits despite missing out on her chance to get another podium in the Hyundai N Cup One-Make in China.

Leona finished second in the opening round at the Zhuhai International Circuit two weeks ago.

While others will be shifting their focus to the next race in Chengdu from July 12-23, the 38-year-old Leona has to sit out due to a lack of sponsorship.

A gutted Leona is keeping her chin up and will continue to let her performance on the track do the talking.

“I couldn’t secure a sponsor in time to compete in the race this weekend in Chengdu. It’s disappointing, especially after the momentum from Zhuhai,” said Leona.

“But I’ll keep pushing forward and preparing for the next opportunity. The support from the fans and the Malaysian motorsport community means the world to me.”

In Zhuhai, Leona faced intense weather challenges and competition from a field of 20 drivers from China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan but still finished second.
